RGOc Jaarsymposium 2026: ‘GGZ in beweging: Samen onderzoeken, samen veranderen’

Symposium summary:

The growing availability of healthcare data creates new opportunities to improve depression care, but turning data into meaningful clinical impact requires data infrastructures that enable responsible data use, methods that generate clinically relevant insights, and effective translation of those insights into clinical practice.

This symposium explores the aspects that go from data generation to real-world impact. We will reflect on lessons learned from federated learning projects in psychiatry and other medical fields, including a closer look at the Netherlands Network for Difficult-to-Treat Depression (NDTD), which will showcase an example of federated learning in Dutch psychiatry. We will also discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from the European Health Data Space. Emerging methods, including automated language and speech analysis, will illustrate how different types of data may contribute to a better understanding of mental health and treatment.

The final part of the symposium shifts the focus from learning from data to putting these lessons into practice. Drawing on examples from DepressieNet, we will explore the ways in which this national initiative aims to support clinical decision-making, regional collaboration, and accessible information and support for people with depression. The symposium concludes by bringing these perspectives together: what is needed to move from data and promising innovations towards sustainable improvements in depression care?

The symposium is organized by NDTD, which brings together clinical, research and industry partners to improve care for people with difficult-to-treat depression through collaboration and better use of healthcare data.

You can register until 18 January 2027.
